Rebecca's Sweet Sixteen
About 10 or so days before her birthday the radion station Z88.3 was playing their Name Game. The name was Rebecca and we werre the call that was answered!!! I got to tell everyone who was listening at the time why Rebecca was special to our family. I'm sure there were other things I could have said at the time, but I did my best! :-) So here I am late in writing this as usual and I'm going to tell you why Rebecca is special to our family!
So, listen up Rebecca, Daddy and I think you are the best and we're about to you why!
You bring so much joy to our family. You make us laugh. You are funny as all gitout! You have a sweet heart for others. You love Jesus and want to make a difference for Him. You are fun to just hang out with. We are very proud of the young lady you have grown up to be. May God bless you and everything you do in your life!
The big SWEET SIXTEEN party is coming later this month, but we still celebrated! The Friday before her birthday we brought her 16 balloons to school and she carried them from class to class! Then the night of her birthday we went to Chuck E Cheese for pizza and fun and later went to TooJay's for dessert!

Wedding announcement and shopping!
_____________________________________________
Below are the details of our wedding shopping so far. Like I said up above we knew Christin and Aaron were headed in the direction of marriage so we were already shopping! :-D
Date: 5/16/08 - Today Christin, Rebecca, and I went wedding dress shopping! David's Bridal was having a sale and we were just looking to see what there was out there. I never thought we'd find a dress the first time. We started looking at the dresses and Christin tried a few on. She didn't like the ones that had the glitter, beads and such on them or anything really floofy or fancy. There was one dress that both Rebecca and I liked, but Christin didn't. We asked her to try it on and she loved it once she got it on. Then we all stood in the dressing room and took silly pictures. The "sales consultant" was so funny....he was massively gay and had blue eyebrows and almost resembled Michael Jackson! Afterwards we went and picked up pizza because Marty and Aaron were at the house and hungry! We had to wait until Aaron went to sleep before bringing the wedding dress inside the house.
On our second wedding shopping trip it was just Christin and me. We were just hanging out and wandering around town window shopping. We went into a silk flower shop next to David's Bridal just looking for some ideas for bouquets. Christin had a particular flower she had found on the internet and she wanted to show me. We found some cymbidium orchids, exactly what Christin wanted. They were green and had a purple center. After that we went over to the Mall at Millenia and went in every dress shop we could find. After finding the most perfect bridesmaid dresses ever, we shockingly discovered they were over $400 EACH. This ended the dress shopping, but all was solved with a trip to the Godiva store and a shared milk chocolate drink.
Now the shopping trips in the middle start running together in my head. We have been to every craft type store in Orlando just looking and picking out what we will need. Sometimes we've had Aaron or Marty with us. Several times we went and looked at Mead Gardens because Christin wants an outdoor wedding. Right beside the amphitheater is a building that belongs to the garden club. One time it was all decorated for a party, so we were able to see it all prettied up. That same day we looked at the old train depot. Christin liked the garden club building best, so that's where the reception will be held.
On Monday, September 1st, at 10 AM Marty, Rebecca and I met one of the garden club ladies to officially look inside the building and to pay the deposit.
On Monday, September 8th, at 9:15 AM Marty, Rebecca, and I went down to rent and pay the deposit for the amphitheater.
The biggest yet shopping trip was Saturday, September 13th. Christin came home for the weekend. All four of us went on this massive shopping spree! We had lunch at Fazoli's and then headed to Joanne's to look for flowers and centerpieces. First of all, we found the centerpieces. There are 2 different kinds. The plants are herbs growing in little pots. One is a long chocolate brown box with three plants in it. The other is a metal box type holder with three plants in it. We had three buggies by this time and looked like a train! Next we found an ivy leaf garland to use at the amphitheater. We hadn't planned on decorating the outside, but this will add just a little bit and look so nice!
I wanted to pick up one of Rebecca's Christmas presents while I was there, so Marty and I said we were going to look for white roses. We did and only found two! Marty went and bought Rebecca's present, took it to the van, and met me back with Christin and Rebecca.
The girls had been picking out the bridesmaid's flowers. Christin looked at all the flowers and said there wasn't anything there. Rebecca started picking out bunches of flowers and putting them together. She did a great job! She must have inherited this gift from Marty's Mom. They were quite entertaining for all the ladies that happened to walk down that aisle.
Our next stop was the ribbon department and the baskets. In one aisle on the way to the ribbons we found a "birdcage" to put the cards in at the reception. It was perfect! After pulling our train around this store for three hours we were ready to check out!
We dropped Marty off at the car place to pick up Christin's car from being aligned. Then he went home so he could sleep because he had to work that night at midnight.
The girls and I went to another Joanne's to find the rest of the centerpieces. We ended up with a total of 10 of each centerpiece. We also found the rest of the white roses! Many of our items were on sale and for the rest we used coupons! I had asked everyone I knew to save these coupons for me, so I had a ton! The ones I didn't use I played coupon fairy and gave away to whoever wanted them. Afterwards we went for dinner and dessert at Toojay's.
It was another great day!
Christin's accident and court date
Below are the details of Christin's accident and court date.
4/28/2008 - Today Christin's ambulance was in an accident and the front end of it was clipped by the tail end of a semi. Her ambulance was completely turned around and the front end ripped off. She 'only' has a broken clavicle! She is on some major pain meds and sleeping at her boyfriend's parents house. We cleaned out her dorm room today. Thank God she had started packing last week. We also rescheduled her final that would have been Tuesday evening to Thursday at 4 PM. Aaron will bring her home Friday night when he gets off work. Please pray for her. She will be in a lot of pain tomorrow.
5/7/08 - Today was Christin's first appointment with Dr. Blick. He said that most people will heal within 6 - 8 weeks.
5/28/2008 - Today was Christin's second doctor's appointment since the accident she had a month ago. It was not good news. :-( The x-rays showed NO new bone growth. The doctor wants to see her back in one month. Christin is very bored and wanting to go back to work. PLEASE pray for the bone to GROW GROW AND GROW more!!!!
6/2/2008 - Christin's court date was 6/3. The day before we stayed in Zephyrhills and did a lot of visiting old friends of my Mom's and my Grandfather's. We went to dinner with my mom's chiropractor, Dr. Len Whalen. We had a great day of visiting all the places we had taken the kids when they were little. One place we went that night is DICES. It's a small family owned ice cream shop. The entire day was relaxing and fun!
6/3/2008 - Christin had to appear in court for the accident on Tuesday at 8:30 AM in downtown Tampa. The trooper has not filed a report yet so that may be in her favor. We arrived at 8 AM. Marty and Rebecca parked the car while Christin and I went inside. We stood waiting until 9 AM only to find out that Marty, Rebecca, and I could not go in the room with her. So we waited in the hallway. At 10 AM she came out and very loudly said that the judge has dismissed the case and told her she could leave!!!!!
We did not get lost and were are able to find a close parking spot! The case was dismissed!!!! PRAISE GOD!
6/28/08 - Today was the 3rd appointment with Dr. Blick. There was actual bone growth!
7/18/08 - Another appointment with Dr. Blick. Christin really wanted to go back to work, but she has to wait.
8/8/08 - Last appointment with Dr. Blick. He released her for work! her first day back was 8/13/08!

Graduation '08
At the first party, we grilled out, ate lots of food, and had a great time! The grad's younger sister is severely autistic, but she is a hoot! I spent some time with her. I think I understand and speak Allie pretty well. :-) We called Christin on the phone. When Allie heard Christin's voice she squealed really loud. We only talked for a few seconds and then hung up. All the kids (8th grade to 25 years) enjoyed the trampoline and just hanging out before we were off to the second party of the night at 9:15 PM. There were still plenty of people there and the dancing was soon to begin when we left.
We arrived at the second grad party around 9:45 PM. Here we ate AGAIN and had more cake! Then we played DDR. At first it was the kids playing. After a few turns a teacher got up there, and finally I tried it a few times. Soon the karaoke machine was brought out. We watched songs sung in American Sign Language! Oh, and have you ever seen the electric slide danced to "Our God is an Awesome God"? It was AMAZING! I spoke to Holly's mom and asked her if she ever thought that she would have CVA teachers and their familles playing DDR and karaoke in her living room. We both laughed! I think we left that party at 11:30 PM.
Last week we were at a double graduation party. There we played "Pin the mustache on the teacher!" I was one of the teachers on the wall. :-) There was a piƱata stuffed with money, of all things! The first grad broke it open and the race was on.
Gordon and Robin, Bob and Diane, Fred and Mel, thanks for the invites! I know everyone had a great time just hanging out and being with friends! Tammy and Lee, I'm sorry I couldn't attend Tia's party. At this time of the year I wish I could split myself in two so I could party party party!!!! I thank God for friends and students that want to include me in their celebrations! Where else can you have great clean fun!!!!!!

Sold by God!
Saturday, April 5th, we had our 10th grade yard sale. We brought the camper and set it up acrossed the street from the sale. LOTS of people looked at it and many were interested, but all walked away. Two ladies really took an interest, even calling their husbands to come look. The ladies left saying their husbands would be back in 30 minutes. Well, an hour passed and I thought they weren't coming back, when they pulled up, wives and husbands. Turns out it's a mother, father, son and his wife. They look at it and sit inside for about 20 minutes. I popped in a couple of times to answer questions. They finally walk down the to think it over. The son comes back pretty quickly and offers me $2000. We were asking $3500 OBO. I said no, that we couldn't take $2000, but as he walked away I said I would take $2500. He said they would think about it. At that point I just had to have faith that God would have the right person come buy it. A little later, the guy drives by with his wife and has one of the kids come get me. I walk over to the car and he tells me that they are from out of town and are leaving Sunday and if I really want to sell it he will give me $2000. I said no, $2500 and for him to let me know. He said OK and I turned to walk away when he said $2200? I said no, $2500. They drove away and I went back to the yard sale, a little bummed. I was talking to some people at the sale asking if they wanted to buy the pool table and the man kept walking. His wife spoke to him in Spanish and he stopped and came back. I was having fun with him saying that he was ignoring me and all. He got real apologetic and said he really wasn't and was just thinking about other things. Then he asked me if we had prayed. I told him that I had in my mind. He says no, you have to pray outloud in Jesus's name and he prayed right then for the camper to sell and then turned around and looked at the pool table and prayed for it to sell!!!! He said that's what you have to do and they went on to the next garage sale. So I got to thinking about it and I was going to go over to the camper and pray outloud myself, but I also felt that we should pray as a group. So I went back into the garage and we all were there, nine of us, and I prayed. I thanked God for the beautiful weather, everything that already sold, and asked Him to send the people to buy the camper and all the other things we had for sale. Not 5 minutes later, I get a phone call. The lady asks if I'm Lynn and do I still have the camper for sale. I said, yes. She told me her son wants to talk to me. He get son the phone and asks me to run a cord over there, turn on the ac, and he is headed over with a $2500 check. I walked back into the garage and told everyone and we all screamed. Then one mom starts looking for the couple that prayed for it to sell and they are just now walking back to their car from the other yard sale. I walk up to them and tell them what has happened. The man says see I told you. I thanked them again and went to get the ac hooked up. We had a cord but no adapter to hook the camper cord to the power cord. I knew a friend had one in their garage so I went to get theirs, but realized that I had no van keys. I had one of the boys drive me to my friend's house. The people arrived right before we got back. M and C pulled up right before we did. We hooked it up and the ac worked fine. We filled out all the paperwork and took a check. I will meet the mom at the bank tomorrow at 1 PM to exchange cash for the title!
